TRACTIONTM FLOOR CLEANER & SAFETY TREATMENT FAQ
How does TRACTIONTM differ from other cleaning products?
There are many degreasers and cleaners that effectively remove grease and soils from floor surfaces. However, TRACTIONTM is the only one that contains the KALISITE ® safety technology. As TRACTIONTM works, the surface is cleaned, slip treated and neutral with no alkali residues to attack floor surfaces or produce slippery soaps when water is spilled on the floor later. Over most surfaces, TRACTIONTM actually increases the coefficient of friction of the floor and raises the floor safety level higher than the original floor finish.
Can TRACTIONTM be used over floor finishes, acrylic seals, sealed wood floors, glazed floors, and coated floors?
TRACTIONTM is a product manufactured using a unique proprietary process, which yields a highly effective cleaner and resistant treatment. TRACTIONTM is designed for use over these types of sealed floor surfaces.
Should I use TRACTIONTM with hot or warm water over an acrylic floor finish?
NO. Only cold water at the recommended dilution ratios as defined in the TRACTIONTM – GUIDE TO SAFER FLOORS booklet should be used with TRACTIONTM for cleaning acrylic floor finishes and sealers.
NOTE: TRACTIONTM may be used as a heavy scrub prior to refinishing. At higher dilution ratios with warm water TRACTIONTM may be used to soften and remove dirty topcoats to finish without affecting base or seal coats.
When may warm or hot water be used with TRACTIONTM?
TRACTIONTM with warm water may be used over epoxy, painted, polyurethane coated floor surfaces or any sealed surface that will not be adversely affected by warm/hot water. It may also be used over unsealed vinyl or linoleum (restaurant kitchens for example).
Is TRACTIONTM a germicidal cleaner?
TRACTIONTM is a powerful effective daily floor cleaner. It is not an EPA registered germicidal floor cleaner. In those areas requiring germicidal cleaners (hospitals, nursing homes), TRACTIONTM is frequently used as a weekly treatment or as the gloss restorer or spray buff to bring the floors back to a higher coefficient of friction level as well as extending the finish life and improving the appearance of the floor.
Can TRACTIONTM be used to restore gloss?
In addition to cleaning and improving the coefficient of friction of the floor surface, TRACTIONTM is an effective gloss restorer. The product may be used with standard speed or high speed (2000 + rpm) floor machines. TRACTIONTM may be used with a MOP ON/BUFF IN or SPRAY BUFFING procedure. TRACTIONTM is highly concentrated and is more economical to use as a gloss restorer than many traditional restoring products in the market today.
Can TRACTIONTM be used on marble or granite?
Marble, granite and other natural stone surfaces are the most challenging with respect to the improvement in the coefficient of friction on the floor. The stone itself can have a significant variability in its composition (hardness, porosity, degree of polishing, etc.) even within the same room not to mention the same building. Other variables such as floor treatments (were any used on the floor – yes or no), sealers (penetrating or topical), and floor finishes can affect how the floor will respond to the TRACTIONTM product. The maintenance personnel will need to spend more time with respect to the method of application, which will work best with TRACTIONTM (i.e. trial and error). Generally, since TRACTIONTM is a surface related product, the more completely sealed the stone floor surface, the greater the degree of improvement in the coefficient of friction that will be realized after using TRACTIONTM. For those stone surfaces that are completely sealed with a topical floor sealer or floor finish, mopping with TRACTIONTM has worked effectively. On unsealed, partially sealed floors, or penetrable sealed floors, SQUEEZE-N-GOTM Floor Safety Gel is recommended.
Can TRACTIONTM be used with automatic floor scrubbers?
TRACTIONTM can be applied through automatic floor scrubbing equipment to clean and slip treat large floor areas such as stores and warehouses. Use 2 to 4 ounces of TRACTIONTM per gallon of cool water. For optimum improvement in slip resistance, apply a generous coating (8-10 ounces per gallon of water) of the diluted TRACTIONTM to a section of the floor (e.g. an aisle of a supermarket). If time allows during the initial slip treatment, leave the product on floor for 2 or 3 minutes. Scrub and vacuum the solution from the floor with the automatic scrubber. Move to next area and repeat procedure.
What coverage will we get with TRACTIONTM?
The coverage will vary with the machine type and individual machine settings. The average coverage in an automatic floor scrubber is 25,000 square feet per gallon of TRACTIONTM concentrate when used at the 8 oz per gallon dilution. The coverage will vary from one machine to the next. The average coverage for mopping with TRACTIONTM will vary from a few hundred to several thousand square feet per mop bucket. The variability in coverage is a result of the different soil loads from one surface to another. The mop water should changed frequently under heavy soil loads.
Where is TRACTIONTM available for purchase?
TRACTIONTM is only sold through janitorial, safety, and floor specialty distributors. Dynamic Research does not sell the product directly to end users. Find a distributor near you.
